What about me?

In the ideal household, parenting is shared equally and amicably by two partners who distribute the load fairly, and are supported by a network of like-minded family and friends who offer support, comfort and respite when they need it. In practice, the workload usually devolves to a very large extent on one parent, who bears most of the workload and the emotional weight. If that person cracks under the strain, the whole edifice is likely to come tumbling down, so it is vitally important that you take steps to make sure that it doesn't happen to you.
